Calling All Friends! Would you like to meet new people, connect with the community, plan and participate in fun events, and help the Library? Become a volunteer with the Friends of the Easton Public Library.

The library is looking for adults of all ages and backgrounds to help plan and run events that will raise money to enhance the materials, programs, and services that the library offers. There is no minimum time commitment required, so folks can volunteer as much or as little time as they wish.

The Friends currently sponsor two annual events — the Story Book Parade and the Holiday Tree Lighting/Vendor Fair. Past events have included the Country Fair/Cow Chip Raffle, Mini-Golf in the Library, and semi-annual book sales.

Unfortunately, the Friends have had to stop offering these events, due to a lack of volunteers. In the case of the book sales, lack of storage space has also been a factor.

“The Friends have been an integral part of the library over the years, providing funds for special programs, sponsoring our One Book/One Town Community Read, and purchasing equipment and other supplemental materials,” said Lynn Zaffino, library director.

“Participation has dwindled in recent years, so we are looking for people with good ideas and some time to donate to this worthwhile organization.”

Current President Gina Orticelli, who has also served on the Library Board of Trustees, has been an active member of the Friends for years.

“Being involved with the Friends has been a fun and rewarding experience,” Gina said. “It has given me the opportunity to give something back to this great community. I have also enjoyed helping the library, which has been an important part of my life here in Easton.”
