As the weather gets nicer and spring break approaches, the staff of the Easton Public Library has been very busy generating new ideas for residents to stay busy, have fun, and enjoy the outdoors.
How about gathering the family, getting in the car, and taking a nice drive around town to participate in the Easton Scavenger Hunt? For those who prefer an indoor scavenger hunt, check out the library’s weekly “I Spy” challenge on its website. Families can also participate in the Snug at Home Challenge and the Family Game Challenge on the lLibrary’s social media sites.
The library’s lineup of virtual programs is expanding, with Bedtime Storytime starting this week and the virtual version of the wildly popular Toddler BeBop starting next week. Virtual book discussions for kids are in the works as well.
For adults, the Beyond Reading Book Discussion group and the Year of Wonders Historical Fiction Book Discussion group have already had their first virtual meetings. Easton Yarnsmiths has also moved to an online format.
The library’s One Book/One Town Community Read book discussion, scheduled for Saturday, April 25 at 3 p.m., will be conducted virtually. It will be a family discussion of both the adult memoir and young readers’ version of the book. Participants who register online will receive the link to access the Zoom discussion.
Library Director Lynn Zaffino will be reading Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House in the Big Woods via YouTube, one chapter at a time. The videos will be available on YouTube starting next week.
“I loved reading the Little House series when I was growing up, and I am really looking forward to doing this. I hope the children of Easton will enjoy it as much as I do,” Zaffino said.
