The Easton 175th team has been hard at work planning lots of fun and interesting activities for the upcoming months. Now that judging is underway for the Easton 175th Logo Contest, the focus is on the first planned event — a drive-in movie.
E.T. (The Extra Terrestrial) will be arriving at the big screen at the Samuel Staples Elementary School parking lot on July 17, with a rain date of July 24. The parking lot will open at 8 p.m., movie starts at 8.45 p.m. Admittance will be first come, first served, with room for 60 to 65 cars. Donations (cash or check only) are welcome and will go to the United Way. See https://www.easton175.com/events for additional information.
Also underway are updates to the Easton 175th website, including the addition of a link to the oral history project spearheaded by the Easton Public Library. Students in grades five and up will be paired up with longtime Easton residents. The students will interview the longtime residents, either by phone, Zoom or similar platform, or face-to-face. Future events include a trivia night planned for Aug. 14, a bike tour and a 5K run/walk as well as a fireworks display planned for the end of August or beginning of September in partnership with Easton EMS.
