“You don’t have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces — just good food from fresh ingredients.”

— Julia Child

Chefs’ creations, amateur grilling tricks and thrown-together salad ideas are all part of the joy of eating. Happily, Citizens for Easton is still compiling recipes at all levels of difficulty from those who live or work in Easton. The CFE board is hoping many individuals and organizations will be represented.

This honey cake masterpiece was created by Joy Blackiston with honey from her husband, Howland’s, bees.

The Easton Police Department has sent in zucchini recipes, and beekeeper Howland Blackiston’s wife, Joy has submitted the extravagant honey cake seen above.

CFE is still seeking recipes featuring local produce

But simple salads, fruit desserts and favorite grillers, corn, beef or chicken, are all on Easton’s seasonal menus and feature produce from local farms. The purpose of the cookbook is to honor local farmers and highlight kitchen creativity in the community.

So it’s not too late to submit your favorites and be part of Easton’s 175th celebration. Recipes and photos (if available) may be sent to cfe@citzensforeaston.org.

But hurry!
