To the Editor,
Over the past few weeks leading up to this year’s presidential election, there has been vandalism of public spaces to serve as advertisement for a political candidate. I would like to take a moment to appreciate the Department of Public Work’s responsiveness in covering up this graffiti as it is detrimental to our community. We have such a beautiful town and these recent acts do not put our best foot forward.
It’s a shame this vandalism took place because the cost to remediate the damage takes away valuable town resources. The act of vandalizing in order to support a political party can only create further division between opposing groups, which isn’t what our country needs at the moment.
Rather than continue to create graffiti in public spaces, people are encouraged to instead discuss their issues. We need to make attempts at dialogue with each other as an alternative to loudly asserting our opinions on the streets.
