Police Chief Richard Doyle announced the promotion of 22-year veteran Thomas Ceccarelli, who joined the Easton Police Department on Nov. 8, 1999.
Previously, Ceccarelli served the country by enlisting in the United States Coast Guard where he served for four years as a seaman.
During his tenure at the Easton Police Department, Ceccarelli received commendations and letters of gratitude from the public. He was issued a Meritorious Service Award for pulling a trapped motorist from a burning vehicle in November 2000.
Additionally, he received a Certificate of Commendation in 2004 for his excellent investigative skills in which he apprehended a felon responsible for numerous burglaries in Easton, surrounding towns and New York State.
A Life Saving Award recipient in 2013, Ceccarelli located a despondent person and saved the individual’s life. Last year he was part of the Unit Citation presented to the Easton Police Department from the Connecticut State Police for his work in a double murder investigation.
“Tom is the most senior patrol officer and is a leader in the department,” Doyle said. “I have worked with Tom for 22 years and always find him to be reliable, responsible, and trustworthy. He is highly respected by his coworkers and the community.”
“I was proud to recommend him to the Easton Police Commission for promotion to the Rank of Sergeant,” Doyle added.
