After 10 years at the helm of Redding’s Mark Twain Library, Beth Steinhardt Dominianni of Easton is retiring from her position. We will have an Open House Celebration for Beth at the Library on June 17.
With our doors recently back open to the public, we invite and encourage all to stop by that day — to jot a note and drop it in a Tribute Box and share a special sweet treat as we thank Beth for her years of dedication and bid her farewell! The library’s open hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — so there is plenty of opportunity to come in and give Beth a true send-off!
“Serving as the director of the Mark Twain Library has been the highlight of my professional career, and a true honor,” Beth said. “The Mark Twain Library is truly very special and it has been a joy to be associated with for the past 10 years.”
Under Beth’s leadership the Mark Twain Library has flourished. The number of annual adult programs has more than doubled and children’s programs increased by over 100%. She oversaw the launch of our downloadable offerings, which are now thriving and have been particularly valuable since the onset of COVID-19.
“Beth helped set a very high bar of excellence, and that legacy will be with us for years to come,” said Eric Rubury, president of the Board of Trustees.
The library will also be celebrating Beth’s tenure on Friday, June 11 at its 113th Annual Meeting. Invitation postcards have been mailed to all current Friends of the Mark Twain Library. The event will take place at the library at 6 p.m. outside under a tent with a limited attendance of 50, The meeting will also be live-streamed via ZOOM. Immediately following the business of the library, there will be a special “Salute to Beth,” featuring a number of heartfelt tributes.
The Mark Twain Library is owned by the Mark Twain Library Association. It was founded in 1908 by Samuel Clemens — Mark Twain himself — one of Redding’s most celebrated residents. Visit marktwainlibrary.org, for more information.
