This Is Easton. is a new community group formed by Easton neighbors to “foster community and engage in meaningful and respectful conversations to recognize and understand our differences and celebrate our common values so we can continue to cultivate a safe and welcoming town.”
The group plans to devote its energy to celebrating the unique beauty of Easton through a series of community celebrations. The first celebration, We LOVE Easton Teachers & Staff, kicked off in early September to coincide with the beginning of the school year. According to a mailer sent by the community group, they are encouraging the town to celebrate teachers for Keeping Our Kids Safe, Keeping Our Kids Learning, Providing a Sense of Normalcy, Brightening Futures, and Making Easton Proud.
Group members include Florisca Carter, Susan Falzone, Sara Hunsucker, Mimi Jacob, Patricia Linnane, Helen Moy, Beth Natt, Bob Natt, Emma Vine-Montoya, Jamie Weinstein and Devon Wible.
The We LOVE Easton Teachers & Staff celebration is on-going throughout September, and the community is encouraged to participate in showing support and gratitude by:
- All month: Post KUDOS for Easton teachers and staff on the Community Kudos Board. Messages will be shared with teachers, staff, and leaders at the end of the month.
- RIGHT NOW: Pick up a We LOVE Easton Teachers sticker and bumper sticker at the Town Party Sept. 18, at Greiser’s, in the kids’ section of the library, or at Sport Hill Farm. Display the bumper sticker proudly and have students wear the sticker to school to celebrate Easton teachers on Spirit Day, Friday, Sept. 24.Additional stickers will also be available at SSES and HKMS.
- RIGHT NOW: Take pictures with the We LOVE Easton Teachers & Staff banners around town and post them to the This Is Easton KUDOS board or email them to thisiseastonct@gmail.com.
- Week of Sept. 27: Print out and send a KUDOS CARD to teachers and staff member(s) at Easton’s schools. Find templates to print here.
While it has been a challenging 18 months, Easton residents are thankful to live in a town that has prioritized its students’ education, health, and safety.
Sara Hunsucker, an Easton resident and This Is Easton member said, “We are so fortunate to have excellent teachers who meet our kids every day with the energy, empathy, and passion required to get through these challenging times. We moved to Easton six months before the pandemic started, and I feel so lucky to have landed in such a great town. Despite the pandemic, my kids are thriving and I attribute that to the support they get from the teachers, staff, and administrators at Samuel Staples every day.”
