My name is Krista Kot, and I am running for reelection as your Easton Tax Collector. I have been employed by the Town of Easton for the last 11 years — the first six as elected registrar of voters and secretary to the Conservation Commission, and the latter five years, more importantly, I have served as your elected tax collector.

I earned the title of Certified Connecticut Municipal Collector (CCMC) in 2019, after attending numerous classes and passing several exams over a two-year period. Additionally, my experience in the office, knowledge of the Connecticut State Statutes and office procedures, as well as my team’s dedication to customer service makes me the right candidate for the position.

This is a full-time position, to which I give, and will continue to give, my all. Our team goes above and beyond to provide, friendly, helpful, and unbiased customer service to all who call our office, or anyone we’ve had the pleasure to assist in person at our window. During COVID, though other offices remained closed to the public, we chose to stay open, in order to offer the same uninterrupted in-person service Easton’s taxpayers deserve.

We also listened to your wants and needs and were able to institute an online payment option, for which many have voiced their appreciation. I believe a big part of my (team’s) job is to make your tax payments as easy, stress-free, and pleasant an experience as possible.

Just as important, our office has shown to be very effective, with a history of high collection rates. The 2019 Grand List collection rate was 99.04% at year end. Anything above 98% is considered “excellent”.

In closing, I have lived in town for over 23 years, and raised four now young-adults, who all attended Easton schools.  I love my town and its citizens, and want to continue to keep giving back in service to its taxpayers.

Thank you for your time, and I ask for your support in reelecting me as your tax collector this coming Tuesday, Nov. 2.
