SUMMARY:Discovered Light: The Final Photographs of Geri Gould
DESCRIPTION:Greiser’s Coffee & Market is privileged to partner with Kit Briner\, the life partner of our friend Geri Gould\, to show and exhibit of the final series of Geri’s photography\, “Discovered Light.”\nGeri Gould received her first camera at age eight from her father\, Joe DiCuffa. He was a professional portrait photographer in New York City and provided a solid foundation of training and inspiration. Her photography has been exhibited and recognized by the Easton Arts Council\, Citizens for Easton\, Black Rock Art Guild at Burroughs Community Center\, Harborview Market and Framemakers Gallery. Fellow Easton artist Robert Brennan has described Geri’s work\, “Geri Gould was an artist who happened to use a camera. Like Claude Monet and so many other painters\, Geri was on a continuous and relentless search for the light\, and in the process\, she discovered the shadows\, thus starting a visual dialogue of elegance\, intrigue\, mystery\, and poetry.”\nAfter Geri passed away in January 2023\, Robert Brennan assisted Kit Briner in curating Geri’s this exhibit\, which will be on display from May 4 through late June. All images are for sale in the store and online here. Please join us on Thursday\, May 4 at 6:30 PM for a celebration of Geri’s artwork and life. \nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n Like this:Like Loading...

SUMMARY:Conversations: Truth\, Myth & Democracy

SUMMARY:SWINGING INTO SPRING! Friendly Gatherings Planned at the Redding Country Club
DESCRIPTION:Redding’s landscape is unique to Fairfield County. The steep slopes and rocky ledges of three distinct ridges are separated by dense forest\, lush meadows\, and meandering streams. Perched atop the central ridge\, the Redding Country Club is unique\, too\, and in celebration of spring\, will be opening its doors inviting new faces to discover why. The RCC is welcoming guests to visit its picturesque grounds and learn about its heritage and offerings at a series of gatherings in late March/early April.\nThe events will take place on Sunday\, March 21st at 4 pm\, Sunday\, March 28 at 4 pm\, Thursday evening\, April 8 at 6 pm and Sunday April 11 at 4 pm. Happy hour beverages and fare will be served while a welcoming team of members mingles about to answer questions and share their experiences. Tours of the facilities will be offered by the staff professionals: Mike Argentine\, PGA-Head Golf Pro\, Gildardo Lobo\, Director of Racquets\, John LaValle\, Aquatics Director\, and Kelly Mulligan\, the Summer Camp Director. Covid precautions will be mindfully observed. To RSVP\, please call (203-938-2567)\, or email membership@reddingcc.org\, or text (203-837-0249).\nFor half a century\, the Redding Country Club has nurtured recreation and relaxation guided by two founding\, family-friendly principals: to promote a culture of warm hospitality\, and to enhance social and active lifestyles. The joy of getting out to play – whether fledgling or skilled\, child or adult\, at the tee\, on the court\, in the water\, or at a Trivia Night – is at the heart of the RCC experience.\nCentral to the club is the 18-hole\, par 71\, Rees Jones designed golf course. Son of legendary course designer Robert Trent Jones\, Rees has designed over 100 golf courses in his career\, but only four in Connecticut – Redding\, the emerald jewel among them. Retaining the land’s natural beauty\, Jones made the most of the idyllic streams\, ponds\, and steep elevation changes\, resulting in a 6\,355-yard course that is as scenic as it can be demanding.\nIn addition to golf\, the RCC boasts state of the art racquet sports and swimming facilities. Four Har-Tru tennis courts\, two paddle courts\, a 25-yard competition pool\, and a toddler-friendly wading pool are all expertly maintained to enhance friendly\, athletic\, rewarding experiences for all ages.\nSusan Dorenbosch\, President of the Redding Country Club\, noted “Ours has been coined ‘the little club in the country\,’ a nod to the fact that the RCC embodies a warmth not always associated with the traditional country club atmosphere. I so look forward to sharing this most special place with both those new to this neck of the woods\, and neighbors who’ve yet to visit us.”\nFor more information on the RCC Welcome Gatherings\, please email membership@reddingcc.org or visit the website: http://www.reddingcc.org. Founded in 1965\, the Redding Country Club is a private\, full-service family-oriented club committed to enhancing the social and active lifestyles of its members by promoting a culture of warm hospitality\, personalized service\, and quality amenities.

SUMMARY:Conversations: Truth\, Myth & Democracy - with Dr. Charles Dew & Dr. Ty Seidule & moderated by Dr. Daniel Barrett
DESCRIPTION:The Mark Twain Library and the Redding League of Women Voters are proud to present the second installment of our series “Conversations: Truth\, Myth & Democracy” with Dr. Ty Seidule of Hamilton College and Dr. Charles Dew of Williams College\, moderated by Western Connecticut State University’s Dr. Daniel Barrett. This virtual discussion is between two Civil War historians who grew up in the South and whose research took them both to some very personal revelations about their own beliefs. Those revelations are the subject of their books and of our conversation. The Conversations series is a grassroots effort that continues to examine the underlying meaning of our democracy and how democracy matters even when we have very different ideas about what it should look like. \nThis particular program is the second in a series that focuses on addressing the difficult issues of truth telling and myth busting within our democracy by bringing much-needed community conversations to help promote education\, informed dialogue and civil discourse. The series is brought to you in association with Easton Public Library\, Weston Public Library\, Friends of the Weston Public Library\, Newtown’s C.H. Booth Library\, Ridgefield Library\, The League of Women Voters of Weston\, The League of Women Voters of Ridgefield and The League of Women Voters of Northern Fairfield County. \nYou can purchase either memoir at our two local bookstores: Byrd’s Books in Bethel and Books on the Common in Ridgefield. If you would like a signed bookplate inside the cover of Robert E Lee and Me\, contact each store directly via phone or email.
