SUMMARY:Poetry Workshop Series: Social Justice & Activism (Grades 5-8)
DESCRIPTION:Calling all poets and poetry lovers! The Mark Twain Library is hosting a series of poetry seminars for middle schoolers. During these seminars\, we will discuss the intersection of poetry and activism\, read the works of trailblazing poets\, understand helpful tools for writing and reciting poetry\, as well as carve out time for students to craft their own poems. No prior experience is required to attend these workshops. \nThe program will meet on the following days (all Sundays): 10/2\, 11/6\, 12/4. You only need to register once to be registered for all 3 workshops. Registration is limited to 10 participants. We request that participants plan to attend all 3 workshops. In January\, we will host a poetry reading to encourage students in the seminar (as well as anyone else who would like to participate) to share their work with a larger audience. \nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on Reddit (Opens in new window)\n Reddit\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)\n Pinterest\n Like this:Like Loading...

SUMMARY:The Hot To Trot Trio in Concert
DESCRIPTION:The Easton Arts Council presents the return of the popular Hot To Trot Trio on Sunday\,\nOctober 9 at 3 pm to the Community Room of the Easton Public Library with a new installment of their “Let’s Do It” series entitled “Let’s Do It\, Let’s Survive….A Post-pandemic Potpourri”. During the pandemic\, the Trio has been updating its repertoire and dialogue\, adding to their usually slightly irreverent view of love through the ages\, the story of how we have emerged from the pandemic a little bit frazzled but wiser. The song list is primarily from the Great American Songbook with some Tin Pan Alley and operetta added to spice things up.\nThe Trio hails from Easton\, Joanne Kant\, vocalist; Bridgeport\, Tom Zimmerman\, vocalist; and Naugatuck\, Olga Kalinina\, pianist. They have been performing together for over 5 years at such venues as Thomaston Opera House\, the Bijou Theatre\, Richter Center for the Performing Arts\, and The Watermark.\nAdmission is free but donations are welcomed for the Arts Council scholarship program.
