This year, for the first time, The Friends of the Easton Public Library are pleased to be hosting a Gingerbread House Decorating Contest at the library even as they prepare for Sunday’s Holiday Market and Tree Lighting.

Everyone in town – individuals, families, neighborhood blocks, affiliated teams and groups – are invited to participate: It’s been a tough year for so many in our world; let’s find and have some local good cheer when we can. Whether you’re a baking enthusiast or just love getting ready for the season with friends and family, this event is for you.

Entries can be made at the library, 691 Morehouse Road, by Saturday Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. Houses will be on display from Dec. 3 to 15. Community members are encouraged to vote between Dec. 3 and 15. Voting takes place at the library. Winners will be announced on Dec. 16.

We will have three categories with one winner for each of three categories: 1) Most traditional, 2) Most creative, 3) Best in show, ages 5 to 10. Note that all items used to make the houses must be edible!

To submit an entry, please email Kelly Skarupa of the Friends at kbyrne519@gmail.com with your name, phone number, email, mailing address and age if you’re in the age 5 to 10 age range for that prize category.

Houses will be on display as part of the Friends Annual Holiday Market and Tree Lighting on Sunday, Dec. 3 from 3 to 6:p.m. New this year, Easton organizations and not-for-profit groups are invited to showcase themselves to neighbors and allow the community to learn more about the group.
