Christine Thorpe makes custom wooden ornaments that depict the lifestyle and traditions of Easton. Each of her ornaments and tumblers is a carefully thought-out representation of her love of living among the town’s natural beauty.

“Right now my favorite item to make is our Easton tree logo items, “said Thorpe. “We love living in Easton and we really wanted to create a logo that depicted Easton in its natural beauty, while also highlighting that we’re the Christmas Tree Capital.”
Thorpe’s ornaments will be on sale at The Friends of the Easton Public Library Holiday Market and Tree Lighting on Dec. 3 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Thorpe and her husband Sean started Sweetner in 2020 when they purchased a laser engraver. With this tool they were able to use their background in art, design and e-commerce to craft their own business. After years of practicing different techniques and designs, they fully launched their company this year.
“Sean and I always loved collaborating artistically and were also really driven to see if we could create a business together,” said Thorpe. “When we learned about the world of laser engraving it just seemed like the perfect fit for our combination of skills.”
Thorpe said it was a slow process getting started and testing out what works and what doesn’t, but she is very excited for this first holiday season where they are creating custom ornaments.
If you are unable to make it to the market this weekend, you can visit her website for more items for purchase through the holidays and beyond. Thorpe is also available for custom design work.
“Supporting local businesses benefits the town financially, but it also strengthens our sense of community,” said Thorpe. “When we choose to shop locally it just feels so good.”
