Geno and Karen: A Creative Duo Celebrating Art and Heritage

On Exhibit at the Easton Library

“Escapes: Landscapes, Cityscapes & Seascapes,” an exhibit of Geno Piacentini and Karen Crane MacDonald’s work, is on display in the Small Gallery at the Easton Public Library through Oct. 15. The artists’ reception is on Friday, Sept. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m.

This dynamic husband and wife duo each bring their unique artistic talents to the forefront. Their shared passion for creativity and dedication to their crafts have made significant impacts in their respective fields.

Geno honed his art skills at the Westport School for Art. His mechanical design career allowed him to blend his creativity with technical expertise, leading to innovative product development designs. He uses oil pastel and acrylic to develop his personal style, which was heavily influenced by impressionistic artists such as Pissarro, Sisley, Monet, Cezanne, and Degas.

Karen earned degrees in occupational therapy and counseling, which has influenced her work and life. She specialized in dementia care services and teaching, and actively participates in research and writing on Productive Aging. A fourth-generation Connecticut quilter, she has a lifelong passion for creating both traditional and modern quilts.

Karen specializes in small, personalized quilted wall hangings that reflect historical and current events. Each piece is entirely hand-stitched and quilted, often featuring intricate embroidery. The exhibit highlights her quilts of Easton Landmarks.

Together, Geno and Karen exemplify the power of creativity and community. Through their art, they continue to inspire and connect with others, leaving a legacy for future generations.
