Town Custodian Retires after 27 Years of Service

Town custodian Terry Calgreen will retire on Jan. 31 after serving the town for 27 years.

Calgreen, who began his employment with the Town of Easton in August 1997, has been responsible for cleaning Town Hall, the Easton Public Library, and the Easton Police Department. He has also been instrumental in overseeing the building facilities, coordinating with outside contractors, and snow removal.

“I will miss Terry so much,” said Library Director Lynn Zaffino. “He knows our building inside and out. He always has answers to my questions.”

“It has been such a pleasure to work with Terry,” said Easton First Selectman David Bindelglass. “He is always positive about everything and never misses a beat. His institutional knowledge is unrivaled as is his attention to every last detail. He will be missed.”

Calgreen said, “It has been a great pleasure working for the Town of Easton the last 27 years. I have worked for five first selectmen, four chiefs of police, and two drectors of the library. Over this time I cannot remember having one argument with any of them!”

Town employees will treat him to a retirement breakfast before he leaves. Retired Easton Police Sargeant Tom Ceccarelli has been hired as Calgreen’s replacement.
