Fairfield – Music in the Meetinghouse, the concert series of First Church Congregational of Fairfield, Conn., is pleased to announce our 2024 Lenten Organ Recital Series.
These 30 minute programs, Wednesdays from 12:15-12:45, will take place weekly from February 21st through March 20. General admission; free will offering. A light luncheon will follow each program. This series showcases First Church’s renowned 2010 Klais pipe organ.
This year’s performers include the Rev. Alan Murchie, Associate for Music and Education at St. James Episcopal Church, West Hartford, and Lecturer in Religious Studies & Music at Fairfield University; Alexander Straus-Fausto, a prizewinning graduate student at Yale University; Alex Hodgkinson, Director of Music at St. Theresa Church, Trumbull; James Jeffrey, of Christ Church Rochester, NY; and Frank Martignetti, Director of Music & Organist at First Church and Program Director and Assistant Professor of Music Education at Sacred Heart University.
Repertoire will include music of Bach, Vierne, Lefébure-Wély, Léon Boëllmann, Oliver Messiaen, and many other composers.
