Ukraine Aid International will host a special presentation at the Fairfield Public Library located at 1080 Post Road on Monday, Nov. 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. titled “Stories of Connection — Connecticut and Ukraine’s Donetsk: Building Bridges of Hope.”

Co-founders and members of UAI, a nonprofit organization that connects communities through humanitarian aid, will share their personal experiences in Ukraine, insights on how the sister-cities partnerships are making a real difference in people’s lives in Ukraine’s most war-torn regions and explain how Connecticut sister-cities can continue to help.

In partnership with  UAI , Easton, Greenwich, Weston, Stamford, Ridgefield, Fairfield and Westport launched sister-city partnerships in the Donetsk Oblast region of Ukraine shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.

Fairfield has raised funds to purchase much-needed equipment for its partner town Kostiantynivka, including an armored evacuation van, a crane, a refrigerated van and a dump truck.

In Easton, the local community has raised more than $100,000 for its partner town, Sviatohirsk

In August, Connecticut became the first U.S. state to formally establish a partnership with Donetsk Oblast. Modeled after UAI’s town-to-town partnerships in Fairfield County, the state partnership establishes a framework for long-term cooperation between Connecticut and Donetsk. The focus includes cultural, educational, humanitarian and economic exchanges, with local committees raising private funds to support specific needs identified by Ukrainian municipalities.

Visit the Fairfield Public Library’s website to register for the event or call 203-256-3155 and Ukraine Aid International to learn more about the sister city partnerships.
