The Easton Board of Finance on Monday temporarily suspended the 2020-21 budget process.  This includes the indefinite postponement of the budget public hearing scheduled for Monday, March 23.

It comes a day after Governor Ned Lamont issued an executive order allowing for flexibility in the municipal budget process. The order provides extensions for budget deadlines.  The governor’s staff is also working with municipalities to address concerns about public attendance, voting at meetings and alternate means to submit public comment.

Board of Finance Chair Matthew Gachi says suspending the budget process allows the town to focus on more immediate concerns as well as gather more guidance as the situation continues to change.

The Board of Finance meeting to further review specific town budgets, originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, is also postponed indefinitely.
