Applications for the Senior Tax Relief program are tentatively planned to be mailed out at the end of March. The Committee on Tax Relief for the Elderly has met recently and has recommended revisions to the tax relief ordinance. The revised ordinance must be presented at a Town Meeting and be approved by a majority vote.
Due to COVID-19 the town is in the process of scheduling a hybrid Town Meeting and machine (referendum) vote for this month. For updates on the scheduled Town Meeting and vote please visit the Town of Easton website at eastonct.gov.
This year we will continue to follow the Governor’s Executive Orders and process applications on the modified basis the same as last year. Applications and instructions will be mailed out to homeowners of five years or more who are 65 and over as of Dec. 31, 2020 and registered to vote.
If you are 65 or over and not registered to vote please contact the Assessor’s Office to be added to the mailing list. The application packet will have more detailed information on the process and revisions.
If you have any questions, please call the Assessor’s Office at 203-268-6291.
