The level of community engagement surrounding the upcoming referendum is encouraging. So many people are taking an active stance in the future of our community. Of course, the culmination of that involvement is to be sure to get out and vote on Tuesday.

Regardless of how you feel about the five questions on the ballot, I ask that you base your decisions on fact. Truthful information and objective analysis. Not assumptions, speculation or hearsay.

In the last week, I have seen misinformation and opinions presented as fact. Just because something is in print or on social media does not guarantee that it’s true. Know the source. If you have questions, reach out. You can email me, or many of our town officials, through the town website. I am happy to share the information I have or put you in touch with those who can better answer your questions.

The beauty of this active debate is that we each get one vote on Tuesday. Exercise your right. Then, respect the outcome. That’s what democracy is all about.
