To the Editor:
Martin Luther King once said: “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” Racism matters! The awareness that racism still exists, whether in our community or anywhere, matters.
The Easton Resolution on Racism and Public Health is a way to open our eyes, ears, hearts and minds to the situations that many people face in their daily lives. It is not accusatory. I view it as a vehicle to guide our willingness to advocate and strive for a better understanding and an opportunity to open constructive discussion.
We are a community of acceptance, support and inclusion, but we can do better. The Easton Resolution on Racism and Public Health will only serve to strengthen the bonds that create not only our wonderful town of Easton, but should connect all people everywhere.
Please, don’t be silent. Vote YES on May 4th, because it matters!
