The Unitarian Church in Westport  is offering its annual holiday music concert on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. in person and on Zoom.

“The Women’s/Men’s Choir have been busy preparing pieces for our annual holiday service/concert,” the Rev. Dr. Ed Thompson, the UU’s Julliard-trained minister of music, said. “This year, in addition to the choir, there will be three soloists: Jenna McPartland, Mike Costantino, and Chris Beaurline, and the women’s Septet will sing as well.

“Consisting of both new pieces and some old favorites, this year’s event is themed ‘We All Came Down.’ We celebrate Chanukah, the Solstice, Christmas, Advent, Season of Light and more with music of Mayo, Thompson, Gray, Miaroma, Betinis, Niles, Mathes and Bareilles. Since there is no way to encapsulate the feeling of the event in words, I invite you to come and hear it first-hand. If you find yourself in a place that is less than Christmas-like, here is an opportunity to change that. Joy is knocking at your door; will you let it in?”

Children’s programming is available, pre-K-7th grades, and 8-9th grade OWL (“Our Whole Lives”) during the 10 a.m. service. Youth (high school) will meet at 11 a.m. as they continue to learn and prepare for their Alaska trip in April. Infants and toddlers are welcome to stay with their parents/caregivers in the sanctuary, or the foyer or library — which offer a bit more privacy even as the service can be heard completely.

This worship service will also be available on Zoom. Please see the front of our website www.uuwestport.org for the Order of Service and Zoom link. Also check out our newsletter SOUNDINGS which keeps you abreast of all that is happening at the church (which is a lot!).

See you Sunday for this special treat!
