It’s that time again. Eastonites have the month of June to obtain or renew dog licenses.
Below are licensing instructions from Debbie Szegedi, Town Clerk:
Dog License Renewals
Dog license renewals for the 2022-2023 licensing year begin on June 1, 2022. You may purchase your renewal tag anytime during the month of June without penalty either by using our online dog license renewal system, through the U.S. Mail, or by visiting the Town Clerk’s Office between 8:30am and 4:00pm Monday through Friday (we are closed from 1:00pm – 2:00pm). The license you purchase during the month of June is valid July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2023. Licenses not applied for within the month of June will be subject to a penalty of $1.00 per month.
All dogs licensed in the State of Connecticut require a current rabies vaccination. If our records show your dog’s rabies vaccination has expired since the last time you licensed your dog, you must provide documentation from the veterinarian showing the new expiration date. Rabies tags do not qualify. Additionally, if your dog has been spayed or neutered since the last time you licensed your dog, you must provide documentation from the veterinarian or check your rabies certificate as it may state that your dog is an “MN ” or “MC ” (male neutered), or “FS” (female spayed). No licenses will be renewed without this information.
The fee for licensing an unaltered dog is $19.00. The fee for licensing a spayed or neutered dog is $8.00. Payments in the Town Clerk’s Office must be made using cash or check.
Online Renewals
Dog licenses may now be renewed using our online renewal system. In order to renew online, for privacy and security reasons, you must have the license year and dog tag number available in order to access the system. (This is the Tag Year – Tag Number listed above.) In addition, if your dog’s rabies vaccination has expired since the last time you licensed your dog, you must provide documentation from the veterinarian showing the new expiration date. If you are renewing online, you must have the ability to scan these documents in a valid Windows image format, such as JPEG, TIFF, GIF, BMP, or PNG.
The license and tag will be mailed to you once your payment is processed.

Renewals by U.S. Mail
For renewals via U.S. Mail, please provide the documentation and fee as outlined above along with a self-addressed stamped envelope. The license and tag will be mailed to you once your payment is processed. Current postage for one to three tag(s) is one (1) stamp, and if more than three tags, please call for postage details. If you are renewing a dog license by U.S. Mail, please also include your name, address, phone number, email, vet’s name and number, the dog’s name, age, breed, and color.
