Joel Barlow High School’s senior class president Benjamin Fligelman delivered a final enthusiastic and upbeat “toodeloo!” to fellow graduates on Monday to mark the end of a tumultuous four years for the Barlow Class of 2022. “Toodeloo!” had become Fligelman’s signature sign-off after delivering the morning announcements at JBHS, and provided a fitting conclusion to the commencement ceremonies held on June 20 at the Feldman Arena on the campus of Western Connecticut State University.

Fligelman’s upbeat optimism was also present throughout his speech entitled “Rejoice Evermore,” and was complemented by Ali Siddiqi’s inspirational valedictory reflections on “Resilience” delivered to classmates and teachers in front of the large crowd of families that packed the rear stadium seats.

The theme of resiliency was also present in the remarks from Head of School Dr. Mario Almeida, Superintendent Dr. Jason McKinnon, and Assistant Superintendent Stephanie Pierson Ugol, all of whom agreed that the grit and determination exhibited by these graduates points to the bright future that lies ahead for the JBHS Class of 2022, and leaves no doubt that they will go on to do great things.
