Easton Public Library has chosen “A Snake Falls to Earth” by Darcie Little Badger as its One Book/One Town Community Read for 2023. The book was written for Young Adults but the themes of environmentalism and diversity have a universal appeal to a wider audience. The award-winning author, who is a Fairfield County resident, draws on her Lipan Apache heritage to create an engaging story that embodies the culture of her tribe.

“Kirkus Reviews” describes the novel as “a coming-of-age story that beautifully combines tradition and technology for modern audiences.”

Author Darcie Little Badger, who also has a Ph.D in Oceanography, will visit the library on Saturday, March 18 at 2 p.m. She will discuss the book and her writing career, and books will be available for purchase and signing. Multiple copies are also available to be checked out at the Library.

In conjunction with the One Book/One Town program, the Library will host speaker Beth Regan from the Mohegan Tribe on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. She will discuss Native American history and culture. Registration is required for both of these events.

The One Book/One Town Community Read program is generously funded by the Friends of the Easton Public Library.
