The Back Yard Beekeepers Association (BYBA) will hold an online session of its annual Bee School. For new or aspiring beekeepers who were not able to attend the in-person BYBA Bee School that was held in January, a second Bee School will be offered on Saturday mornings starting Feb. 25.
Participants will view the recorded sessions of January’s 2023 Bee School with a live presenter available online for questions and comments. Each session will be approximately two hours. The fee for participation is $60 which includes Back Yard Beekeepers Association membership. For participants who are already members, the fee is $30.Participants in the January 2023 Bee School are eligible to participate again at no cost.
Bee School dates and times:
Feb. 25, 9-11 a.m.
March 4, 9-11 a.m.
March 11, 9-11 a.m.
March 18, 9-11 a.m.
Bee School is a fine way to either get a solid introduction into beekeeping or to fill in some gaps in what you know already that will strengthen your beekeeping skills. We will cover safety issues, types of equipment, evolving roles of the worker bee, honeybee pests and diseases and more.
The BYBA offers Bee School as the first step in supporting new beekeepers. Our goal is to connect each “graduate” with a mentor, encourage participation in the club’s many workshops, and welcome the new members into our monthly “New Bee” zoom discussions. We hope to see you at our monthly meetings which feature both regional and nationally known speakers on aspects of beekeeping. Starting with Bee School, the BYBA is all about education and support.
