To the Editor:
My family and I are new to Easton, and we’re grateful for such a a well-managed, transparent budget process in our new home town. My daughter is just finishing kindergarten at Samuel Staples Elementary School, and her experience has exceeded all our expectations for her first year in school. We look forward to first grade along with our boys starting in the following years. We’re here for the long term, and we want to make sure our community is making the right decisions for the future without getting distracted by the issue of the day. In seeing the Board of Finance work with the greater community to ensure resources for education and Park and Recreation, we know we made the right decision moving to Easton.
I attended several BOF meetings. I watched our neighbors share views on a range of issues. They were all respectfully received. Budget recommendations were fair and practical. Ultimately, this process resulted in a bipartisan consensus for a budget offered to the town in the referendum. This is how government should work. We should all extend our appreciation to Chair Art Laske and the rest of the Board for their stewardship during this important process.
