The Easton Police Department responded to a call about a vehicle in the pond near Route 59 and Church Road Sunday morning at 6:39 a.m. Police and Easton Fire Department officials arrived on the scene and found two occupants of the vehicle who were deceased, according to Police Chief Richard Doyle.
Easton police notified the Fairfield Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team and the Trumbull Police Dive Team who responded to the scene to assist with evidence collection. Route 59 was closed to traffic between North Park Avenue and Church Road all morning and has since reopened, Doyle stated.
The investigation is ongoing. The names of the victims have not been released, pending notification to family members, according to Doyle.
