Your donation will sustain Easton’s nonprofit community journalism partnership

Most residents remember when Easton became a local news desert after the print edition of the Easton Courier ceased publication in 2018 — its 40th anniversary year — as a result of diminishing ads. Thousands of other local news organizations have closed over the past 25 years and the global pandemic sealed the fate of over 100 more.

Through an educational initiative housed in the School of Communication, Media & the Arts at Sacred Heart University, the nonprofit and online version of he Easton Courier launched on Leap Day, Feb. 29, 2020, just two weeks before the pandemic shut down schools, businesses and almost all activities of daily living. The Courier has since published over 3,000 articles and received over 40 Excellence in Journalism awards from the Connecticut chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

None of this would have been possible without Sacred Heart University’s partnership, which enabled the Courier to operate as a non-profit and an entirely independent organization. The Courier team has dedicated immeasurable hours to produce the news that Easton residents read every day.

The healthiest way to sustain and grow the Easton Courier is from the support of the people who value it. The Courier looks forward to constantly providing you, our readers, with timely local news and information. We ask that you support the Courier by making a donation at the link below or by using the QR code. Your donation will allow us to continue to sustain this successful community journalism partnership.
