Lorenzo Porzio of Easton graduated as valedictorian of Notre Dame High School in Fairfield.

“It’s an incredible honor to be this year’s valedictorian,” said Porzio. “My experience at Notre Dame has been one of the most transformative parts of my life.”

As a student, Porzio embraced many of the opportunities his Lancer education had to offer. He immersed himself in a wide variety of extracurricular pursuits, was inducted into both the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society, and was a member of Notre Dame’s Distinguished Scholars Program. During his time at the school, Porzio took on multiple leadership positions, acting to support both his peers and the local community.

Kendra Mitacek of Stratford graduated as salutatorian. Her extracurricular career at Notre Dame mirrors Porzio’s similar breadth of interests and depth of dedication. Since her freshman year, she has played basketball for Notre Dame and participated in the Spanish Club and Drama Club.

Like Porzio, Mitacek is a member of Notre Dame’s Distinguished Scholars Program. Additionally, she studied abroad at Oxford University where she received certificates in medicine and psychology. Outside of Notre Dame, she has participated in Habitat for Humanity fundraisers, AAU basketball, and served as the Princess of the 2023 Barnum Festival.

Mitacek and Porzio will both head off to the University of Connecticut on full scholarships.

“I am extremely proud of these two students,” said Principal D. Christopher Cipriano said. “Lorenzo and Kendra have shown great discipline throughout their high school careers and are both deserving of this recognition. I have no doubt of their continued success in college and life thereafter.”
