Local residents, officials and Democratic legislators and candidates running for office from upper Fairfield County are slated to attend a rally to protect reproductive rights and access on Saturday, Oct. 5 at noon at the Morehouse Pavilion, 413 Morehouse Road, in Easton. All are welcome to attend the rally, organized by Beth Cliff, Democratic candidate for House District 112 serving Easton, Monroe and Trumbull.

“We welcome everyone of all ages and genders to come together to show support and solidarity for reproductive rights and access,” said Cliff. “Especially after the Dobbs decision in 2022, overturning Roe v Wade. Connecticut must stay strong. We’re NOT going back.”
Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz will headline the rally. In addition to Bysiewicz and Cliff, other elected state lawmakers and candidates running for office in November are scheduled to speak. They include Jimmy Tickey, vice chair of the Connecticut Democratic Party and district director for U.S. Rep. Jim Himes; state representatives Anne Hughes, House District 35 incumbent, representing Easton, Redding, and Weston, and Sarah Keitt, House District 134, representing Fairfield and Trumbull.
Speakers also include candidates for state Senate Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox, who is running for Senate District 22, serving Monroe, Trumbull, Bridgeport; and Rob Blanchard, who is running for Senate District 28, serving Easton, Fairfield, Newtown, Bethel; and state representative, Michelle Embree Ku, running for House District 106 in Newtown; and Dottie Lerner for House District 122, covering Trumbull, Shelton, Stratford.
Easton Selectman Nick D’Addario, and the heads of the Democratic Town Committees for Easton, Monroe, Trumbull, and Redding, and the Rev. Alan Taylor of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Westport will also be in attendance.
“Activating our citizenry is what it’s about, and we wanted a platform to energize and validate all our voices here in this part of Connecticut,” said Cliff. “We have a voice, and we want to be heard: that’s what we’ll do on Oct. 5.”
Free parking is available at Samuel Staples Elementary School and the nearby soccer fields. Folks are invited to bring placards, signs, and their full voices. Children are welcome.
