To the Editor:
Both Irv and I were EMT Volunteers in the late ’70s and ’80s. In addition, I served on the Board of Trustees for many years. Our home town and schools have grown a lot since our EMS ambulance was a large Cadillac responding to auto accidents and medical emergencies. The building has not changed much.
We as a town need to move forward and provide our responders an updated facility. New building code standards must be adhered to. Our professional and volunteer staffs need a comprehensive space for practical training and an office space for administrative work. In addition, we need continuing education classrooms for demanding recertification requirements, overnight space for on-call night responders and an area for supplies and storage.
It is vital that our personnel have a safe environment. The Easton Volunteer Emergency Medical Service serves the whole town and often is on standby for various civic and school events. This project will benefit our community both young and old.
