Six months ago, Selectman Nicholas D’Addario began efforts to secure a second United State Postal Service mailbox for Easton. However, despite his ongoing efforts, the town is still awaiting its arrival and installation.

Easton’s second USPS mailbox hasn’t been delivered, leaving the town unable to put a stamp on the issue.
The town’s only mailbox is located in front of the Post Office at 295 Center Road. Its placement poses challenges for residents, particularly senior citizens, due to limited parking. Only two spaces are available in front of the building. Additionally, the mailbox’s proximity to a busy coffee shop and market makes access even more difficult.
D’Addario initially reached out to U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, who requested a mailbox from the USPS. The request was approved in June, and USPS confirmed that delivery was in progress. But the mailbox has yet to arrive.
D’Addario said he recently spoke with Himes and was reassured again that the USPS had approved the mailbox.
“I’ll update the Board of Selectmen and First Selectman Bindelglass as soon as I have news,” D’Addario stated.
When the mailbox finally arrives, its installation location remains up for debate. D’Addario has proposed placing the new mailbox at either Easton Town Hall or the public library, both of which are accessible and frequently visited locations.
However, some say that placing the mailbox farther from the existing one would better serve residents in other parts of town.
