Easton Volunteer EMS will reopen its headquarters at 448 Sport Hill Road May 17, marking what officials describe as a significant step in strengthening emergency medical services and restoring a central gathering place for volunteers and the community.
The reopening event, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon and celebrates the start of National EMS Week. The event comes during a period of broader change for emergency response services in Easton, including the town’s approval of a transition to the Fairfield County Regional Dispatch Center and continued efforts to modernize emergency operations.
Easton Volunteer EMS Chief Jonathan Arnold said the reopening event will provide residents an opportunity to tour the renovated facility, meet volunteers and learn more about the organization’s role in the community.
Last year at a Feb. 11, 2025 referendum residents voted 1,175-526 in favor of allocating $2,951,613 from the undesignated fund balance for the project. The town expects to be reimbursed approximately $1,118,155 from state and other sources, bringing the estimated final cost to Easton taxpayers to $1,833,458.
The approval culminated in the long-awaited goal to renovate and update the headquarters. The process included the formation of a building committee and fundraising efforts by EMS.
