High winds and rain are causing multiple hazards in the area.

“Easton Emergency Services and Easton Public Works are responding to numerous trees down, some involving power lines,” according to police Chief Richard Doyle.

There is a road closure at the intersection of Valley and Staples Roads and “more closures are expected,” Doyle said Monday afternoon.

“There are approximately 40 residents without power. United Illuminating and tree crews are in town clearing trees and making repairs,” he added.

Doyle is asking residents to stay indoors as there are wires down in several locations. “Do not go near downed wires as they can be live,” he said.

“There are also numerous small branches and debris blowing in the roadways.”

This article will be updated as additional information is reported. In the interim, Doyle advises that power outages should be reported online at uinet.com
