In response to Gov. Ned Lamont’s decision to reopen, with limitations, outdoor dining areas, some eateries in Easton will invite diners.
Easton’s three eateries remained open during the state’s COVID-19 shutdown serving the community via takeout and online orders. But with the state lifting restrictions as of May 20, some local establishments will begin offering outdoor seating.
The Olde Blue Bird Inn Restaurant will be open this weekend with outside dining.
Eva Pogorzelski, Bluebird’s general manager, said five tables spaced six feet apart to adhere to social distancing regulations will be set outside in front of the restaurant for patrons.
“We never offered outside dining, but maybe people will be more comfortable eating outside,” said Pogorzelski.
Pogorzelski said Bluebird has cleaning and staff protocols in place. Masks are optional for patrons, but workers must don masks and gloves. Hand sanitizers will be available, she said.
Bluebird will continue offering take-out breakfasts and lunches.
Easton Village Store will begin offering outside dining on Saturday.
Steve Grant, the general manager, said the patio will have 10 tables set six feet apart. The grill will be open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Starting on Memorial Day customers can shout out their orders at Greiser’s Coffee and Market.
Owner Adrienne Burke said masked customers can walk up to Greiser’s new screen door, give a shout so masked workers can take their coffee, tea, cold drinks, and baked goods orders. Soon sandwiches will be available on demand as well.
“Until we are ready and able to resume in-store service safely, we will happily take any orders for coffee and other drinks that come in via shout through our screen door,” said Burke.
Greiser’s has remained open during the shutdown, operating as a market and offering fresh-grown produce from farms in town via take-out and online orders, curbside pickup and delivery in Easton.
Burke said Greiser’s will maintain its current hours, Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., for shouted orders and curbside pickup through June 1.
