Fall is here and the temperature is dropping, the leaves are falling, and pumpkins are everywhere! There’s a lot happening at the Easton Public Library in the upcoming weeks, for patrons of all ages, including virtual programs, take-home crafts, and a car parade.

A variety of programs are available via Zoom for every age group during the month of October, including Virtual Padawan Training for Star Wars fans aged 5-10 on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. Presented by The Saber Guild, a not-for-profit, LucasFilm-recognized Star Wars costuming group that specializes in choreographed lightsaber shows, the program will teach the basics of using the Force and how to wield a lightsaber.

For adults, we have a new program, the Best Lives Book Club, which focuses on how we achieve happiness, and success, and how we find our unique purpose in life. Join us Monday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. for a discussion of Self-Compassion, by Dr. Kristen Neff. This program is also being presented at Mark Twain Library in Redding.

Please check our website for a complete list of upcoming events and to register. Registration is required for all events. A Zoom link will be provided prior to the event.

For those looking for creative projects, we have take and make crafts for several age groups, including adults. The projects are updated monthly and can be picked up at the Library or requested for curbside pickup.

The Friends of the Library will have a Story Book Car Parade, on Saturday, Oct. 24, beginning at 1 p.m. at Samuel Staples Elementary School. Decorate your vehicle to honor a favorite book! Costumes are optional. The route traveled will be Morehouse to Banks to Center to Library. All participants will receive a goodie bag! We need spectators, too! Come out to the parade route and cheer on the cars! Pre-registration is required.

Library hours are extended on Thursdays to 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. to accommodate busy Easton residents. Curbside pickup and homebound delivery are still available for those who need it. The Library continues to be fine-free for materials that are returned late. Lost and damaged materials will still incur a fee.
