An Easton police officer conducting radar on Route 58 May 6 around midnight stopped a speeding vehicle according to the report. The officer stated he could smell a strong alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle, the driver’s eyes were glossy and his speech was slurred. At first the driver denied having any drinks that evening but later admitted to having four to five drinks of whiskey, police said.
The driver, Adam Matthew Falis, 39, of Bethel, was charged with possession of less than 1/2 oz. of drug paraphernalia, speeding and driving under the influence
After failing to pass field sobriety tests, Falis was taken to the police station for processing, where he refused a Breathalyzer test and did not wish to contact an attorney, police said. He was released after a friend posted the $100 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court in Bridgeport on June 1.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
