Candidate Bio

I am excited to be running to complete a term on the Board of Finance to which I was appointed earlier this year.

Having been involved with the town of Easton’s finances for over 20 years, I have a broad understanding of how our budgets are set and how our town government works. I served for 12 years on the Insurance Commission, followed by holding elected office as the Town Treasurer from 2012-2019.

As Treasurer, my duties included managing the town’s cash investments, overseeing purchasing and transactions and supervising bonding activity. In that role I attended every Board of Finance meeting.

Candidate Statement

I am eager to continue serving on the Board because we need fiscal responsibility in our budgets. For the first time in over a decade, the budget went up over 4% this year, which is unsustainable. Since Easton taxpayers bear the burden of most of our expenses, we need someone like me representing their interests. I have ideas about consolidating departments and taking a deeper look into the Board of Education budgets.

I am a firm believer in putting as much towards as education as we can, but we need to be sensible about it. There are parts of the budget we have no control over on both BOE and the town side. So, we need to take the time to look at the parts we do control and make sure we are doing the right thing for the schools, the town, and the taxpayers.

I look forward to continuing to serve Easton’s citizens on the Board of Finance and respectfully ask for your vote on November 2nd.
