Easton Police Commission Chairman Richard Colangelo swore in a new officer, Luis Rodriguez, on Jan.10; he is the newest member of Easton’s Police Department and brings a significant skill set to the department and the town.

According to a department press release, Rodriguez, 22,  joined the Waterbury Police Department where he graduated from their police academy in 2020. He entered Easton’s Emergency Medical Services in 2019 and is currently a state-certified Emergency Medical Technician.

A native of Lares, Puerto Rico, his family relocated to Bridgeport when Rodriguez was age 7. He is a graduate of Bridgeport Military Academy and holds an Associates Degree from Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport.

Easton Police Chief Richard Doyle noted that Rodriguez brings numerous assets to the Easton Police Department including his familiarity with the Easton community, his fluency in Spanish and his EMT certification.
