If you haven’t visited your local public library recently, you probably are not aware of all the materials, programs, and services that libraries have to offer. During the last couple of decades, public libraries have evolved from repositories of books into community centers that serve the many diverse needs of the entire community. While the books are still here, they are accompanied by materials in many other formats, including audiobooks, DVDs and Blu-Ray discs, Playaways, Launchpads, and a vast array of digital resources.

Through the library’s website (eastonlibrary.org), Easton Library cardholders can learn a new language, explore the food of other cultures, access legal documents, and keep up with their investment portfolio, all from the comfort of their home. In the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, the library expanded its offering of digital resources as a way to continue to serve the public while the building was closed.

In-person library services include computer use, Wi-Fi access both indoors and outdoors, one-on-one technology assistance, faxing, copy, and scanning. Programs include monthly book clubs, a weekly knitting group, career coaching, author talks, crafting, movies, and informational lectures. The library also offers a variety of programs for children and teens, including music & movement, story times, grab-and-go crafts, coding, robotics, and college preparation workshops.

If you’re looking for a quiet place to work or study, you might want to check out the Library’s new Decibel Double booth, which is a virtually soundproof, self-contained pod that accommodates up to two people. The library also has two rooms that can be booked for meetings or events.

In cooperation with the Easton Arts Council and Easton resident Dolly Curtis, the library features art exhibits that can be viewed year-round.
