The Bridgeport area branch of AAUW (American Association of University Women) announces that applications are now being accepted for their 2022 undergraduate and graduate scholarship program.
The scholarships are for women enrolled in degree programs, certification programs or special courses designed to upgrade professional competencies at an accredited community college, college or university. Applicants must have completed 30 college credits by June 2022 and must be continuing their programs of study during the 2022-2023 academic year.
Women of all ages are eligible if they have not previously received an AAUW scholarship and have been residents for at least two years of the following towns: Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Newtown, Shelton, Stratford, or Trumbull. Scholarship awards are based on a student’s need, academic performance and personal qualifications.
The scholarship application forms and more information about AAUW Bridgeport are available at: www.aauw-bpt.org. The deadline to apply is March 28, 2022.
AAUW Bridgeport is a local member of the national American Association of University Women. The Branch joined AAUW in 1931, changing its name from The College Club of Bridgeport, a progressive group founded in 1916 by seven forward-thinking women who challenged the prevailing attitude that girls receive better training for life in their home.
AAUW Bridgeport’s mission is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research. The organization’s primary focus is to help women achieve economic security through higher education.
