The Easton Democratic Town Committee met on Jan. 12 at the Easton Public Library to nominate new members for the 2024-26 term and approved the entire slate of 35 by unanimous vote. There was a celebratory atmosphere at the caucus following the Democrats’ near sweep of local elections last November, according to Amy Wolfcale, EDTC communications.

“We’re thrilled to welcome both returning and new members who will bring new energy and perspectives to the DTC,” outgoing Chair Nanette DeWester said. “We feel some great momentum with the historic gains Democrats made in the Easton municipal elections last fall, and we’re starting the new year with lots of enthusiasm.”
The full slate of new Easton DTC members will be formally seated at the March 28 organizational meeting. They expect to officially meet for the first time on March 7, which is the earliest they could meet as the new town committee, according to the Connecticut Democrats’ rules. New members include Josip Glavan, Leny Wallen-Friedman, Raymond Martin III and Nilgun Yigit.
March 28 is when they will choose new officers. DeWester said she would welcome the opportunity to continue as chair.
The EDTC is the official body of the Easton Democratic Party, elected by and representing the enrolled Democrats of the Town of Easton, Conn. Members are elected every two years. The EDTC meets the first Wednesday of the month. You can learn more about the EDTC or get involved at Easton Democrats.
