Good afternoon,

We are still facing drought conditions and the Easton Fire Marshal’s Office has issued a temporary ban on all outdoor fires including fire pits and chimineas. The minimal rain that is anticipated this weekend will not be enough to reduce the fire danger in any meaningful way, we need inches of rain before conditions improve. The current ban will continue through Nov. 18 when we will re-evaluate.

As you may recall, we have a senior tax credit program to relieve some of the tax burden on our seniors who may be struggling to pay their bills. It is governed by an ordinance which must be reworked every three years. Earlier this year, at a town meeting, the revised ordinance was rejected over concerns about whether or not medical expenses would be considered when calculating one’s income to determine if they were eligible for tax relief. The ordinance has been rewritten and can be found here: https://www.eastonct.gov/tax-relief-for-the-elderly-committee/news/2025-tax-relief-for-the-elderly-ordinance-with-changes. It will be voted on at a future town meeting.
We have been approached by the ANNIE C COURTNEY FOUNDATION regarding the desperate need for foster families in our region. Information can be found on the social service page on the town website at: https://www.eastonct.gov/social-services/news/how-to-become-a-foster-family.
Thank you to Cleber Ramos, Easton resident, who volunteered to do some cleanup work in front of Town Hall. It is all cleaned up and looks beautiful. Thank you!
Have a great weekend!
Dave
