Conversations: Book Discussion of “White Evangelical Racism: The Politics of Morality in America”

Join us for a discussion of Anthea Butler’s White Evangelical Racism: The Politics of Morality in America. Dr. Butler, the Chair of Religious Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, has authored a brief but powerful book, weaving together a personal story and a long history. She has had numerous speaking engagements related to her book, three of which are listed below with links.
Dr. Butler’s book, White Evangelical Racism: The Politics of Morality in America is available to download through Hoopla. Though Butler’s full book is open for consideration, our discussion will also focus on the following discussions:

This discussion group is created in partnership with the Mark Twain Library and the Redding League of Women Voters in an effort to offer our community an opportunity to continue the conversation on race. Join us for one conversation or many. In the months to come, this group will meet to explore issues surrounding race through a variety of mediums. The group is intended to be a forum where community members can safely exchange ideas, hear differing perspectives, and talk about race.
