This year’s One Book/One Town Community Read at the Easton Public Library is Normal, a moving memoir written by Magdalena Newman that tells the story of raising Nathaniel, who was born with a severe form of Treacher Collins Syndrome, a cranio-facial difference.
This uplifting story of a family tackling complex and terrifying circumstances with love and resilience is a true testament to Magda and her family, and to families everywhere who quietly but courageously persist. The Young Readers’ edition of the book is written primarily in Nathaniel’s voice.

The Easton Public Library will be showing the movie Wonder (PG) on Friday, March 6 at 6 p.m. The movie is a fictional story about a boy with Treacher Collins syndrome, a condition that affects the development of the bones and tissue of the face. After the movie, there will be pizza and a discussion.
The Kindness Panel On Wednesday, March 12, at 7:00 p.m. will feature representatives from our Elementary School, Middle School and High School and Easton Connects with Kindness (ECWK) as we delve into the many ways Easton promotes kindness. Each area school will have representatives from school groups that strive for inclusiveness, celebrating differences, and kindness. Pam Gupta, of ECWK, will talk about the myriad ways her organization has worked to promote these qualities as well.
Authors Magdalena and Nathaniel Newman will be at the library on Saturday, April 18, at 1 p.m., for a presentation and book signing. The rest of the Newman family will be in attendance as well, so you don’t want to miss it.
The final One Book/One Town event for this year is the Family Book Discussion on Saturday, April 25, at 3 p.m. This program will give readers a chance to discuss the book with other members of the community. There will be separate discussion groups for adults and children.
