Easton First Selectman David Bindelglass released the following statement concerning charges by the Fairfield Police Department in connection with a deadly hit-and-run accident July 4 that led to the death of a Pennsylvania woman.

“The entire town of Easton is  saddened and shocked by the death of a pedestrian in Fairfield and by the news that an Easton resident has been arrested and charged in this case,” Bindelglass said. “I have full confidence that the Fairfield police will conduct a full and fair investigation, and that our own Easton police will assist in every way possible.

“I express my personal and the town’s condolences to the family of Marileidy Morel Araujo who lost their loved one, and our thoughts are with all those involved in this complicated case.”
