The Easton Police Dept. received a call on Feb. 17 at about 11:23 p.m. about an erratic driver heading into Easton. An officer stopped the motor vehicle when the driver, Earl Mims, 33, was attempting to turn around. After failing to perform field sobriety tests, the officer determined the driver was under the influence, according to the report.

Mims was charged with the charges of DUI, driving without a license and possession of marijuana. He refused to take a breath test or to contact an attorney, police said.  He was later released to a family member after posting a $30 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear at the Bridgeport courthouse on March 1 to answer the charges.

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

The Easton Police Department is located at 700 Morehouse Road, Easton, CT 06612, 203-268-4111, EastonCT.gov.
