1, 2, 3, 4, we declare a COIN WAR!

Students at Samuel Staples Elementary School recently accepted a challenge from their friends at Redding Elementary School to see who could collect the most change, and bring about change.

Easton PTO and Redding Elementary PTA organized the coin war as a fundraiser for Kids Meals, Inc in Houston, Texas. The non-profit organization looks to end childhood hunger by providing nutritious meals to children of families in need. The group lost much of its food supply during the winter weather and power outages in Texas last month. Every $2 donation provides a meal to a child.

The PTO and PTA asked students to bring in bags of change over the course of one week, with bragging rights going to the school that collected the most. And the kids responded. SSES collected $3,291.64 in coins. RES brought in about $2,000.

Easton PTO SSES Co-President Jessica Zannetti says, “We are blown away by the generosity of the SSES and RES school communities. Many of these kids emptied their own piggy banks to help other kids in need.”

Check out the Easton PTO website for more information about the group and its efforts to support Easton schools.
