The Easton Public Library has chosen “Piglet: The Unexpected Story of a Deaf Blind Pink Puppy and His Family” by Melissa Shapiro, DVM, as its 2022 One Book/One Town Community Read.
The author, a traveling veterinarian based out of Westport, will give a presentation, as well as sell and sign books at the Library on Saturday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m. The snow date is Jan. 29. Shapiro will be joined (via Zoom) by Tricia Fregeau, a Massachusetts teacher who coined the term “Piglet Mindset” and began using it as a teaching tool with her third graders.
Fregeau’s ideas paved the way for a formal Piglet Mindset curriculum. Program attendees will also have the opportunity to meet Piglet in person.

“As soon as I read this book, I knew it was the perfect choice for this year’s One Book/One Town Community Read,” said Library Director Lynn Zaffino. “Not only is it entertaining and inspirational, but it is a local story, which I thought would resonate with our community.”
The library is also planning other related programs, including a Pet Adoption Event in February and a community book discussion in March.
Copies of the book are now available at the library for borrowing and for purchase.
